From April 4-8, 2010 the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign was in New Orleans on the “March to Fulfill the Dream”, where they met with Ward “Mack” McClendon who runs the Lower 9th Ward Village, a community center working to restore one of the hardest hit neighborhoods from Katrina. It has been five years since the storm hit and still 75% of the community in the lower 9th ward remain displaced and many of those who have returned are still not back in their original homes or are struggling to keep their homes.
